Nuiba Second Post Shiraz 2022
Shiraz / Syrah
Description
At Nuiba Wines, winemaker Suzanne Coetzee crafts expressive wines rooted in a sense of place and careful vineyard attention. The Second Post Shiraz 2022 comes from dryland bush vines on the slopes of the Olifantsrivier Mountain in Piekenierskloof, where warm summer days and cool nights mimic key elements of a classic Rhone climate - encouraging concentrated flavours with refreshing acidity. Nuiba’s winemaking philosophy is to preserve fruit purity and let the vine speak for itself, with open fermentation and thoughtful oak maturation adding texture and nuance without overwhelming the grape’s natural character.
Colour: Rich ruby with depth and clarity, suggesting youthful vibrancy.
Nose: Ripe dark berries and plums are immediately apparent, layered with hints of gentle oak spice and subtle savoury notes that add complexity without overshadowing the fruit.
Palate: Smooth and generous on the palate, this Shiraz delivers juicy red and black fruit with a touch of peppery spice and vanilla from its time in third-fill French oak. Medium-weight tannins give structure while keeping the wine accessible and drinkable.
Finish: The finish is soft and lingering, with fruit and gentle oak spice folding into a harmonious close that invites another sip.

Nuiba Second Post Shiraz 2022
- Food Pairing : Nuiba Second Post Shiraz 2022 pairs beautifully with heartier dishes that mirror its ripe fruit and gentle spice. Enjoy it alongside a juicy pepper-crusted steak or grilled lamb chops, where the wine’s plush berry notes and supple tannins complement the savoury char. It also works well with rich tomato-based pasta or a Moroccan-spiced lamb tagine, both of which bring out the wine’s warmth and complexity. For a contrasting pairing, serve it with a blue cheese-topped beef burger — the creamy, salty cheese highlights the wine’s depth while keeping the palate lively.
- Drink before: Best enjoyed now through the next 3–5 years; the wine’s fruit-forward nature and moderate oak make it approachable young but with enough structure to develop some complexity.
