Niel Joubert Shiraz Cinsaut Grenache 2021
Blend:Red
Description
Niel Joubert Wines is a long-established family estate in the Paarl region of the Western Cape, where the Joubert family has been farming for generations. Paarl’s warm Mediterranean climate, combined with cooling breezes from the nearby Atlantic Ocean, allows Rhône varieties such as Shiraz, Cinsaut and Grenache to ripen fully while maintaining balance and aromatic character.
The vineyards grow on decomposed granite and shale soils that provide good drainage and help concentrate flavour in the grapes. For the Niel Joubert Shiraz Cinsaut Grenache 2021, each varietal is harvested and vinified separately to preserve its individual character before blending. Shiraz provides structure and dark fruit depth, Cinsaut contributes freshness and red berry brightness, and Grenache adds soft spice and roundness. Gentle oak maturation allows the components to integrate while keeping the fruit expressive and approachable.
Colour:
Deep ruby red with a bright purple edge, showing youthful vibrancy.
Nose:
Aromatic layers of ripe blackberry and plum are lifted by notes of red cherry, subtle white pepper and hints of dried herbs.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with juicy dark berry fruit supported by softer red fruit from the Cinsaut and Grenache components. Fine tannins and balanced acidity keep the wine structured while maintaining an approachable, rounded texture.
Finish:
Smooth and lingering with gentle spice and fresh red berry notes.

- Food Pairing : The generous fruit and gentle spice of Niel Joubert Shiraz Cinsaut Grenache 2021 make it a versatile food wine. It pairs naturally with grilled lamb sosaties or flame-grilled boerewors, where the wine’s peppery notes complement the smoky flavours from the braai. It also works well with slow-roasted pork shoulder or a hearty tomato-based pasta, as the wine’s juicy red fruit balances savoury richness. For a lighter option, try it with roasted Mediterranean vegetables or mushroom dishes, where the herbal notes and soft tannins bring the flavours together.
