Mullineux Old Vines White 2024
Blend : White
Description
Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines is based in the Swartland, a region known for its dryland bush vines, granite and schist soils, and a climate that naturally limits yields while concentrating flavour. The Old Vines White 2024 draws from a network of carefully selected vineyards, many between 35 and 70+ years old, rooted deep into the Paardeberg and surrounding hills.
Â
The winemaking philosophy is grounded in minimal intervention and site expression. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and matured in large-format, mostly older French oak to build texture without overt wood influence. Lees ageing adds depth, while the absence of heavy manipulation preserves the wineâs natural structure and energy. The result is a Cape white that balances richness with restraint, firmly bridging Old World sensibility and Swartland character.
Â
Colour:
Pale straw with a slight golden hue, reflecting both concentration and time on lees.
Â
Nose:
Aromatic and complex, with pear, white peach and citrus zest leading, followed by notes of fynbos, chamomile, crushed stone and a hint of spice.
Â
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with a textured, almost waxy mouthfeel. Flavours of nectarine, grapefruit and poached pear are layered with subtle spice and mineral depth. The acidity is bright and precise, giving structure and lift, while a gentle grip from old vines and skin contact adds dimension.
Â
Finish:
Long and dry, with lingering citrus oil, stone fruit and a savoury, mineral edge.

Mullineux Old Vines White 2024
- Food Pairing : Mullineux Old Vines White 2024 is a versatile, food-friendly wine with enough weight and structure to handle richer dishes while retaining freshness. It pairs particularly well with roast chicken, pork belly or grilled fish with a buttery or citrus-based sauce, where its acidity cuts through richness. The wine also works beautifully with Cape Malay-inspired dishes or mildly spiced curries, as its texture and subtle spice echo the flavours without overwhelming them. For something simpler, try it with hard cheeses or seafood like mussels or prawns, where its mineral edge and layered fruit can shine.
