Morgenster Sangiovese Rosé 2024
Rose'
Description
Morgenster Estate, situated on the Helderberg slopes of Stellenbosch, is known for bringing an Italian sensibility to the Cape Winelands. Under the vision of Giulio Bertrand, the estate has long focused on classic European varietals - particularly those from Italy - adapted to local conditions.
The proximity to False Bay provides cooling maritime influence, helping preserve acidity and freshness, while the diverse soils contribute to structure and nuance. The Sangiovese Rosé forms part of this Italian-inspired portfolio, made to reflect both varietal authenticity and a relaxed, Mediterranean approach to drinking. Winemaking remains thoughtful but unfussy, with techniques like gentle pressing and fermentation in neutral vessels to retain purity and texture.
Colour:
Pale salmon pink with a delicate, translucent hue.
Nose:
Fresh strawberries and pomegranate lead, followed by red cherry, citrus zest and a subtle herbal-spice note.
Palate:
Light- to medium-bodied with a smooth, almost silky texture. Red berry fruit sits alongside a slightly savoury edge, with hints of spice and a touch of rooibos-like complexity adding interest. The acidity is fresh but gentle, keeping the wine easy to drink.
Finish:
Dry and lingering, with red fruit, soft spice and a clean, refreshing close.

Morgenster Sangiovese Rosé 2024
- Food Pairing : Morgenster Sangiovese Rosé 2024 is particularly food-friendly thanks to its balance of fruit and subtle savoury notes. It pairs well with fresh salmon, charcuterie or a prosciutto and asparagus pasta, where the wine’s acidity cuts through richness while complementing the flavours. It’s equally at home with summer salads or Mediterranean-style dishes, and works especially well with tomato-based plates, where the Sangiovese character naturally aligns with the acidity and savoury elements.
