L’Ormarins Brut Classique NV
Cap Classique
Description
L’Ormarins estate, part of the historic Anthonij Rupert Wyne portfolio in the Franschhoek/Western Cape region, has long been associated with quality South African wines. The Brut Classique NV is the fruit of a classic Méthode Cap Classique production, where careful blending of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from premium sites reflects both fruit purity and balanced bottle maturation. The wine’s style shows a respectful nod to traditional sparkling wine craftsmanship - elegant, fresh and structurally poised - while being approachable and expressive of the Cape’s cool-influenced terroir.
Colour: Pale golden hues with a steady stream of fine bubbles, signalling traditional bottle fermentation and liveliness in the glass.
Nose: Aromas brim with citrus zest (lemon and lime), green apple and subtle hints of brioche and cream biscuit from lees contact. A light flinty or mineral nuance underpins freshness and complexity.
Palate: Crisp and bright on entry, with citrus fruit and orchard notes complemented by hints of grapefruit and pear. The mousse is refined yet persistent, giving texture alongside balanced acidity. Toasty, biscuit-like layers add subtle secondary depth without dominating.
Finish: Dry, elegant and lingering, finishing with refreshing citrus lift and a faint whisper of yeast-derived complexity.

L’Ormarins Brut Classique NV
- Food Pairing : L’Ormarins Brut Classique NV shines as an aperitif and pairs entertainingly with fresh shellfish like oysters or peeled prawns — its bright acidity and fine bubbles cut through salinity and complement the sea-fresh sweetness. It also works beautifully with light salads dressed in lemon vinaigrette or creamy goat’s cheese canapés, where citrus-tinged fruit character and brioche nuances enhance the dining experience without overpowering subtle flavours. For a slightly richer pairing, smoked salmon blinis or sushi with pickled ginger echo the wine’s zest and textural finesse.
- Drink before: Best enjoyed now through 2–3 years for freshness and mousse quality; retains vibrant fruit and acidity typical of NV Cap Classique.
