Leopards Leap Culinaria Pinot Noir 2024
Pinot Noir
Description
Leopard’s Leap is based in the Franschhoek Valley, but the Culinaria Pinot Noir is usually made from cooler-climate vineyards elsewhere in the Western Cape, where slower ripening and maritime influence help preserve bright acidity and delicate aromatics. The Culinaria range is designed with food in mind, so the focus is on purity of fruit, moderate alcohol and fine, gentle tannins rather than density. Winemaking leans towards a lighter touch: careful fruit selection, restrained oak and a style that nods to Old World elegance while staying firmly rooted in the generosity of New World Cape fruit. The result is a Pinot Noir that is fragrant, supple and versatile at the table.
Colour:
Light to medium ruby with a bright, translucent core, typical of a youthful Pinot Noir.
Nose:
Red cherry and ripe strawberry lead, backed by cranberry and a hint of raspberry. Subtle notes of rose petal, dried herbs and a touch of spice or soft oak add gentle complexity without overpowering the fruit.
Palate:
Light to medium-bodied with a smooth, silky texture and fine, powdery tannins. The palate echoes the nose with red cherry, strawberry and a touch of plum, supported by fresh, lively acidity that keeps the wine brisk rather than heavy. Hints of spice, soft earth and a savoury note sit in the background, giving a bit of seriousness while the wine remains very approachable. Overall it’s graceful, quietly layered and easy to drink.
Finish:
Medium in length with lingering red fruit, a touch of spice and a clean, refreshing aftertaste.

Leopards Leap Culinaria Pinot Noir 2024
- Food Pairing : Leopards Leap Culinaria Pinot Noir 2024 has gentle tannins and fresh acidity, making it very flexible with food. It’s a natural match for roast chicken with herbs, where the red fruit and savoury notes echo the crispy skin and pan juices without overwhelming the dish. It works well with grilled trout or salmon on the braai, as the wine’s brightness cuts through the richness of the fish. For everyday meals, think mushroom risotto, charcuterie with good bread, or a simple margherita or mushroom pizza – the wine’s light body and juicy fruit keep the meal feeling relaxed and moreish rather than heavy.
