Le Riche Wines is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s leading Cabernet Sauvignon specialists. Founded by the late Etienne le Riche and now guided by the next generation of the family, the winery focuses almost exclusively on Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends sourced from carefully selected Stellenbosch vineyards.
The Richesse range was created to offer a more approachable expression of the Le Riche house style while still reflecting the structure and depth associated with Stellenbosch reds. The 2023 vintage combines ripe fruit concentration with polished tannins and restrained oak handling, producing a wine that balances immediate drinkability with enough structure to reward short- to medium-term ageing.
Colour:
Deep ruby red with a vibrant garnet edge.
Nose:
Aromas of blackcurrant, plum and dark cherry are layered with cedar, tobacco leaf and subtle notes of graphite and dried herbs. Hints of cocoa and vanilla spice add further depth.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with a smooth, structured palate built around ripe dark fruit and polished tannins. Flavours of cassis, black plum and mulberry are supported by savoury oak spice and fresh acidity, giving the wine both richness and balance. The tannins are firm enough to provide shape without feeling aggressive.
Finish:
Long and dry with lingering cassis, cedar and gentle mocha notes.
