L'Avenir Provenance Chenin Blanc 2024
Chenin Blanc
Description
L’Avenir Wine Estate, located on the slopes of the Simonsberg in Stellenbosch, is rooted in some of the Cape’s earliest vineyard history, with vines grown here since the time of Simon van der Stel. Today, the estate blends this heritage with a subtle French influence, reflecting its connection to the AdVini group.
The Provenance range sits at the heart of the estate - wines shaped by site, balance, and drinkability. Chenin Blanc thrives here on cooler south-west facing slopes, where Atlantic breezes moderate ripening and preserve natural acidity. Older vineyards, many over 40 years old, contribute depth and concentration. In the cellar, the approach is measured: a combination of stainless steel and French oak maturation, with lees ageing to build texture while maintaining clarity and freshness.
Colour:
Pale straw with bright clarity, reflecting a fresh, modern style.
Nose:
White peach and melon lead, followed by apple and citrus. Subtle layers of honey, toasted almonds and a light floral note add complexity.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a smooth, rounded texture balanced by crisp acidity. Flavours of stone fruit and citrus are complemented by a gentle spice and a touch of lees-derived creaminess. The oak component is subtle, adding structure rather than weight.
Finish:
Clean and lingering, with notes of citrus, almond and a delicate mineral edge.

- Food Pairing : The L’Avenir Provenance Chenin Blanc 2024 is a versatile, food-friendly wine that suits a range of everyday dishes. Its bright acidity makes it a natural partner for grilled fish or line fish with lemon butter, cutting through richness while enhancing freshness. It works equally well with spicy prawns or mild Cape Malay curries, where the fruit softens gentle heat. Roast chicken or a creamy pasta dish also pairs comfortably, as the wine’s subtle oak and texture mirror the richness without overwhelming the plate.
