La Motte Rosé 2025
Rose'
Description
La Motte is a historic estate in the Franschhoek Valley, framed by mountains and cooled by valley breezes that help preserve delicacy in the fruit. For La Motte Rosé, the team typically sources grapes from suitable sites across the Western Cape, choosing parcels that deliver ripe red fruit at lower sugar levels to keep the style dry, light and refreshing. The winemaking is intentionally gentle: brief skin contact to capture a pale colour and subtle aromatics, followed by cool fermentation in stainless steel to keep the profile crisp and clean. The result is a contemporary Cape rosé that leans on New World fruit purity but keeps an Old World sense of restraint – more about fine refreshment and food compatibility than sweetness.
Colour:
Delicate salmon-pink with a coppery sheen, bright and limpid in the glass, suggesting a dry, modern rosé style.
Nose:
Fresh strawberry and raspberry lead, supported by red cherry and a touch of watermelon. Behind the fruit are light floral notes – think rose petal – and a gentle citrus lift, adding brightness without becoming perfumed.
Palate:
Light-bodied with crisp, mouth-watering acidity that keeps each sip refreshing. The palate echoes the nose with strawberry, cherry and watermelon, joined by a hint of pomegranate and subtle citrus. The texture is smooth and dry, offering enough flavour to feel satisfying while staying very easy to drink. It feels clean, uncluttered and geared for relaxed drinking rather than complexity for its own sake.
Finish:
Medium in length with lingering red berry notes and a gentle, citrus-tinged snap.

La Motte Rosé 2025
- Food Pairing : La Motte Rosé 2025 has light body and bright acidity, making it a natural partner for casual, summery dishes. It works well with a braai spread of chicken sosaties, grilled veggies and potato salad, where the wine’s freshness cuts through mayo and char. It’s also very comfortable alongside sushi, poké bowls, or a simple tomato and mozzarella salad, as the red fruit and citrus notes echo the sweetness and acidity in the food. For easy weekday meals, think roast chicken, quiche with spinach or bacon, or a mezze-style platter with hummus, olives and pita – the dry, crisp finish keeps everything feeling light and moreish.
