L-Gin is a small craft gin producer based in the Elgin Valley, a cool-climate region in the Western Cape known for its orchards, fresh mountain air and clear spring water. The brand was founded by Sue Harper, Isabel Huxter and Ann Claughton, who set out to create a gin that reflects the character of the valley using locally sourced ingredients and small-batch production.

The distillery focuses on regional identity, incorporating Elgin-grown fruit and botanicals alongside classic gin ingredients. Production is carried out in small batches, allowing careful control over flavour extraction and balance.

L-Gin Plush offers a slightly different take on traditional gin styles. After distillation with botanicals including juniper, citrus peel, coriander and angelica, the spirit spends a short period resting in oak. This brief maturation softens the texture and adds subtle caramel and spice notes while still retaining the fresh botanical structure of a classic gin.

Serve with premium tonic over plenty of ice and garnish with orange peel or rosemary to highlight the citrus and herbal notes. The gin also lends itself well to simple cocktails such as a Gin Old Fashioned or citrus-forward Collins, where its gentle oak character adds depth without overpowering the botanicals.
