Hailing from Zimbabwe, Tinashe Nyumudoka moved to South Africa for better economic prospects. Without any prior experience of wine his journey took him from waiter to head sommelier of The Test Kitchen. Having fallen head over heels for wine, the ache to try his own hand at winemaking could not be resisted. A friendship with Attie Louw, a winemaker from the family estate Opstal in the Slanghoek valley, led to the opportunity for Tinashe to blend his own wines and in 2017 Kumusha wines was founded with a range of wines now being exported to the USA, Zimbabwe, Kenya and the Netherlands. The Kumusha The Flame Lily 2022 is a white wine blend of Roussanne, Chenin Blanc, Colombard and Semillon. Displaying flavours of apple, white peach, lemon zest and winter melon. It has an unabashed richness and sensuality in the fruit, balanced by a surprisingly taut and mineral acidity. With a beautifully textured mouthfeel.
