Joseph Barry Distillery is a family-run craft distillery based in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. Founded by Joseph and Arlene Barry, the distillery is known for producing small-batch brandies and spirits using traditional methods and locally sourced grapes.
Inspired by classic French brandy production, the distillery focuses on careful distillation and extended maturation to develop depth and character. The Joseph Barry VSOP Brandy is matured in French oak barrels for several years, allowing the spirit to develop layers of fruit, oak and spice while maintaining a smooth, balanced profile. The result is a Cape brandy that reflects both the region’s grape-growing heritage and the distillery’s hands-on approach to craft distillation.

Nose:
Aromatic notes of dried apricot, orange peel and honey lead the bouquet. Subtle hints of vanilla, toasted oak and warm baking spices develop with time.
Palate:
Rounded and full-bodied with flavours of dried fruit, caramel and roasted nuts. Gentle oak spice and a touch of vanilla add complexity, supported by a smooth texture.
Finish:
Long and warming, with lingering notes of honey, spice and soft oak.
