Description
Holden Manz Wine Estate lies on the upper slopes of Franschhoek, where vineyards benefit from significant diurnal temperature shifts created by the surrounding mountains and cooling afternoon breezes. The estate has become known for small-production wines that favour texture, balance and site expression over overt ripeness or heavy extraction.
The Rothko Rosé takes its name from the painter Mark Rothko, reflecting the estate’s appreciation for texture, subtle layering and elegance. Inspired by the dry rosés of Southern France, the wine is crafted to be more gastronomic than purely simple or fruit driven. Gentle pressing, cool fermentation and extended lees contact help build texture and complexity while preserving freshness and precision.
The 2024 vintage reflects a refined, contemporary Cape rosé style - dry, savoury and quietly structured, with enough depth to work confidently at the table.
Colour:
Pale salmon pink with bright clarity and delicate copper highlights.
Nose:
Aromatic notes of wild strawberry, watermelon and raspberry lead the nose, followed by rose petal, citrus peel and subtle herbal complexity.
Palate:
Dry and finely textured, with bright acidity carrying flavours of red berries, pink grapefruit and summer melon. The Rhône-style blend brings gentle savoury depth and a slightly rounded mouthfeel, while the freshness keeps the wine energetic and focused throughout.
Finish:
Clean, persistent and lightly savoury, with lingering citrus zest and delicate red fruit.
