Holden Manz Proprietors White Blend 2022
Blend : White
Description
Tucked into the upper reaches of Franschhoek, Holden Manz Wine Estate benefits from one of the valley’s most distinctive terroirs - where decomposed granite soils and cooling mountain breezes shape wines with both texture and freshness. The estate sits on the western slopes of the valley, allowing for slower ripening and more nuanced flavour development.
Holden Manz has built a reputation for precise, small-batch winemaking that leans toward an Old World sensibility while still embracing the clarity of New World fruit. Grapes are hand-harvested and handled with minimal intervention, with oak used judiciously to support rather than dominate. The Proprietors White Blend reflects this philosophy well - a considered blend that prioritises structure, balance, and site expression over overt richness.
Colour:
Pale straw with a subtle golden hue, suggesting both freshness and gentle oak influence.
Nose:
Ripe pear and yellow apple lead, followed by citrus peel and white peach. There’s a layered complexity of toasted almond, light vanilla, and a hint of flinty minerality.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a rounded texture from the Chardonnay, balanced by the Chenin Blanc’s natural acidity. Orchard fruit carries through, joined by lemon curd and a faint nuttiness. The oak is present but restrained, adding structure without heaviness.
Finish:
Clean and persistent, with lingering citrus, soft spice, and a dry, mineral edge.

Holden Manz Proprietors White Blend 2022
- Food Pairing : The Holden Manz Proprietors White Blend 2022 is versatile at the table thanks to its balance of freshness and gentle weight. It works particularly well with roast chicken and herbs, where the wine’s acidity cuts through the richness while echoing savoury flavours. Creamy seafood dishes like prawn risotto or line fish with a butter sauce are a natural fit, as the texture of the wine complements the dish without overwhelming it. It also pairs comfortably with Cape Malay-style mild curries, where subtle spice and fruit interplay, or even a simple grilled vegetable platter with olive oil and lemon, allowing the wine’s mineral edge to shine.
