Hinch Distillery, located near the town of Ballynahinch in County Down, Northern Ireland, is part of a new generation of Irish whiskey producers focused on combining traditional methods with modern maturation techniques. The distillery emphasises approachable, flavour-driven whiskies that highlight the smooth character for which Irish whiskey is known.
Hinch 5YO Double Wood Irish Whiskey is a premium blend made from approximately 20% single malt and 80% single grain whiskey. The spirit is matured first in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for at least four years, before spending an additional year in virgin American oak barrels. This “double wood” maturation builds complexity by layering vanilla sweetness from bourbon casks with fresh oak spice from the second maturation.
Bottled at 43% ABV, the whiskey reflects Hinch’s modern Irish style - smooth and accessible while still offering depth and structure.

Nose:
Fresh citrus and lemon peel lead the aromas, followed by vanilla cream, light oak and a gentle touch of tobacco.
Palate:
Smooth and rounded with flavours of mocha, warm cinnamon and vanilla layered over subtle fruit sweetness. The combination of bourbon and virgin oak casks adds both creaminess and spice.
Finish:
Long and warming with honeyed fruit, soft chocolate and lingering oak spice.
