Hasher Marimist Chardonnay 2023
Chardonnay
Description
Hasher Family Wines is based in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, one of South Africa’s most respected cool-climate regions. Situated close to the Atlantic Ocean near Walker Bay, the area benefits from consistent maritime influence, which slows ripening and helps preserve natural acidity - ideal conditions for Chardonnay.
The estate combines European heritage with a distinctly Cape sensibility, focusing on site expression and careful vineyard management. The Marimist Chardonnay 2023 is matured for around nine months in barrel, with a restrained use of new oak, allowing texture and complexity to build without overwhelming the fruit.
The result is a Chardonnay that reflects both place and precision: cool-climate freshness layered with subtle richness and structure.
Colour:
Bright straw with a hint of gold, indicating both freshness and a touch of oak influence.
Nose:
White pear, apricot and citrus blossom lead, followed by lemon zest and a light note of toasted coconut and vanilla.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a rounded, textured mouthfeel. Flavours of peach, golden apple and citrus unfold, supported by bright acidity. The oak is present but integrated, adding a gentle creaminess rather than weight.
Finish:
Fresh and zesty, with lingering lemon and a subtle savoury, slightly saline edge.

Hasher Marimist Chardonnay 2023
- Food Pairing : The Hasher Marimist Chardonnay 2023 has the structure and texture to pair comfortably with richer dishes while retaining enough freshness for balance. It works particularly well with grilled or pan-seared line fish, where the citrus edge lifts the dish, as well as creamy seafood pasta or risotto, where the wine’s texture mirrors the richness. Roast chicken or pork also pair naturally, with the subtle oak complementing caramelised flavours. For something local, try it with a mildly spiced Cape Malay curry - the acidity keeps the palate refreshed while the fruit softens the spice.
