Hasher Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023
Cabernet Franc
Description
Hasher Family Wines is a young, family-run estate based in the cool, maritime Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus - a region increasingly recognised for elegant cool-climate reds. The Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023 draws its character from vineyards planted on gravelly soils with ocean breezes that preserve freshness and lift in the fruit. Whole-bunch and berry fermentation techniques were used with attention to gentle extraction, followed by 12 monthsâ ageing in seasoned French oak barrels to add texture without overpowering the varietalâs signature aromatics and clarity. The approach emphasises purity, balanced acidity and a savoury red-berry profile that feels both expressive and poised.
Â
Colour:
Bright ruby with youthful glow and clarity.
Â
Nose:
Elegant floral notes of violet and Damask rose open first, followed by vibrant red cherry, cassis and raspberry. A distinct wet gravel minerality shows alongside subtle aniseed and liquorice spice, giving aromatic complexity.
Â
Palate:
Medium-bodied and finely structured, the palate mirrors the nose with harmonious intertwining of floral notes and fresh red fruit. Silky, well-integrated tannins provide balance, while the cool-climate acidity keeps the wine lively and focused.
Â
Finish:
The finish is long and fruit-forward, with a sustained impression of purity and balanced vibrancy.

Hasher Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023
- Food Pairing : Hasher Cyriel Cabernet Franc 2023 works beautifully with dishes that echo its floral, savoury and red-berry character. A rosemary and garlic-roasted lamb rack complements the wineâs pepper spice and graceful acid structure, while a braised venison shoulder enhances its earth-minerality and spice nuances. For a lighter contrast, try grilled free-range chicken with red wine reduction or chargrilled portobello mushrooms with herbs - the wineâs freshness and balance lift the savoury components without overwhelming.
