Ridgeback Wines sits on the northern slopes of the Paarl Mountains in the Western Cape, where warm days and cooling evening breezes help build ripe, expressive flavours in red varieties. The estate has crafted a distinctive portfolio of red blends and single varietals that reflect both the sun-kissed fruit of its vineyards and thoughtful winemaking. The Signature S sits within Ridgeback’s Signature range - a collection that showcases the estate’s ability to balance power with finesse. A Rhône-inspired blend led by Shiraz, it draws from Mourvèdre and Grenache to create depth and complexity while maintaining clarity of fruit and structure.
Colour: Deep, vibrant ruby with a youthful sheen in the glass.
Nose: Aromas of dark cherry and blackberry weave through layers of cracked black pepper, liquorice and subtle earthy spice, with a hint of truffle-like complexity emerging with air.
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, the fruit core of juicy dark berries is underpinned by savoury spice and gentle herbal notes. Fine tannins and balanced acidity provide structure, while Mourvèdre and Grenache add nuanced texture and depth without dominating the Shiraz base.
Finish: A dry, lingering finish where spicy dark fruit and savoury accents stay fresh and inviting.
