Joostenberg Wine Estate is a family-run, organic producer in the Paarl region of the Western Cape, where Mediterranean sunshine, cooling breezes and poor, rocky soils help craft expressive wines with a sense of place. Certified organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking aim to let vineyard character speak first, with Syrah - especially the Klippe Kou bottling - showcasing the intrinsic intensity that comes from dry-farmed, rock-bound vineyards. The name Klippe Kou (âchewing rocksâ) is a local nod to the stony soils that force vines deep and yield concentrated flavour.

Nose: The bouquet opens with ripe raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, complemented by savoury fynbos, spicy white pepper and a touch of smoky earth.

Palate: Medium-bodied with vibrant, pure fruit - raspberry and plum - balanced by peppery spice and gentle savoury notes. Textured acidity and moderate, powdery tannins build structure, giving pleasing depth while keeping the wine lively.
