Erika Obermeyer Wines is a boutique, winemaker-driven project built on hands-on involvement and a clear sense of style. After years crafting wines at leading Cape estates, Erika Obermeyer established her own label to focus on small-batch wines that reflect both site and intuition.
Fruit for this Rhône-style blend is sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Coastal Region, including Stellenbosch, Voor-Paardeberg and Agter-Paarl. These areas bring together decomposed granite, shale and dryland bush vines - each contributing structure, perfume and freshness. The winemaking leans toward minimal intervention, with open-top fermentation and measured oak maturation (around 15 months in French barrels), allowing the wine to build texture while keeping fruit at the centre.
Colour:
Deep ruby with a vibrant, youthful edge.
Nose:
Red cherries and wild berries lead, followed by fynbos, black olive and a lift of white pepper spice. There’s a subtle floral note adding perfume and complexity.
Palate:
Medium-bodied with a refined, layered texture. Bright red fruit sits alongside savoury notes and gentle spice, while the tannins are fine and integrated. Syrah brings structure and depth, Grenache adds softness and fruit lift, and Cinsault contributes freshness and balance.
Finish:
Silky and persistent, with lingering red fruit, spice and a lightly savoury edge.
