Duke Pinotage 2025
Duke Pinotage 2025 is produced by Wellington Wines, a longstanding co-operative rooted in the Wellington Valley. Drawing fruit from vineyards across this diverse growing region, the wine reflects the warm days, cooling evening breezes and varied soils that have made Wellington a reliable source of expressive, fruit-driven wines. The Duke range pays tribute to the Duke of Wellington, after whom the town is named, and focuses on producing approachable wines that showcase regional character without unnecessary complexity. The emphasis is on accessible, easy-drinking styles that remain true to the distinctive personality of South Africa's signature grape variety, Pinotage.
Â
Colour:
Dense ruby red with youthful brightness and excellent depth of colour.
Â
Nose:
Aromatic layers of raspberry, cherry and blueberry lead the way, followed by ripe plum, gentle spice and subtle earthy notes. A light touch of oak adds extra interest without dominating the fruit.
Â
Palate:
Soft and juicy from the first sip, showing generous red and dark berry fruit supported by bright acidity. Fine, ripe tannins provide structure while maintaining an approachable, medium-bodied feel. The fruit remains the focus throughout, making for an easy yet satisfying glass of wine.
Â
Finish:
Dry and lingering, with notes of cherry, plum and delicate spice carrying through to a clean finish.
- Food Pairing : Duke Pinotage 2025 is a natural match for South African braai favourites such as grilled lamb chops, boerewors and sticky pork ribs. The wine's ripe berry fruit softens smoky chargrilled flavours, while its fresh acidity keeps richer dishes from feeling heavy. It also works well with Cape Malay curry, where the fruit profile complements gentle spice, and with roasted aubergine dishes that echo the wine's subtle earthy character.
