Dry Land Collection Rossouws Heritage 2023
The Dry Land Collection Rossouw’s Heritage 2023 comes from Perdeberg Cellar in the Agter Paarl area, where deep, well-drained soils and dryland vines (relying on cool winter rainfall rather than irrigation) encourage small berries and concentrated flavour. Named in honour of vineyard heritage and the Rossouw family’s influence, this wine exemplifies Perdeberg’s focus on expressive, terroir-driven whites from dryland sites: a balanced marriage of Chenin Blanc’s backbone with the aromatic flourish of Grenache Blanc and Viognier. With a portion matured in French oak, the wine show's structure and complexity while preserving bright, fresh fruit character that speaks clearly of its Paarl origin.
Colour:
Pale straw with glints of green, suggesting freshness and youthful vigour.
Nose:
Lifted scents of citrus zest, passion fruit, white pear and lychee mingle with floral notes, with subtle vanilla and spice from oak integration.
Palate:
A medium-bodied, texturally engaging palate delivers crisp citrus and tropical fruit balanced by vibrant acidity and an appealing creamy edge from oak. Flavours of ripe pear and tangerine carry through with gentle aromatic lift.
Finish:
The finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus and orchard fruit and a hint of vanillin spice keeping the palate bright and poised.
- Food Pairing : The Dry Land Collection Rossouw’s Heritage 2023 partners well with fresh, flavourful dishes where its citrus acidity and textured fruit can shine. Think grilled line fish or hake with lemon-herb beurre blanc, where the wine’s bright fruit cuts through and complements the seafood. It also works beautifully with creamy pasta primavera or a herb-roasted chicken, as the layered flavours in the wine echo herbal and fruit elements on the plate. For a slightly richer match, a salad of citrus segments, toasted almonds and goat’s cheese brings out the wine’s aromatic depth while keeping the meal light and refreshing over the finish.
