Die Kaapse Brandewijn Kompanie XO Cape Brandy
Die Kaapse Brandewijn Kompanie was created with the aim of reintroducing premium Cape brandy to a new generation of drinkers while respecting the long-standing traditions that shaped South African potstill brandy production. Produced in the Western Cape, the range draws on classic French-inspired distillation methods while embracing a distinctly local identity rooted in the Cape winelands.
Â
The XO Cape Brandy is crafted from carefully selected wine grapes distilled in copper pot stills before extended maturation in oak barrels. Time in wood softens the spirit and develops layered flavours of dried fruit, spice and caramel, while maintaining freshness and structure. The style leans toward refinement and drinkability rather than overt sweetness, offering a more contemporary expression of Cape brandy without losing the warmth and richness expected from the category.
Â
Colour:
Deep amber with polished copper tones.
Â
Nose:
Rich aromas of dried apricot, orange peel and toasted nuts lead the bouquet, followed by hints of caramel, vanilla pod, oak spice and soft raisin sweetness.
Â
Palate:
Rounded and velvety in texture, with flavours of toffee, baked fruit and dark honey layered alongside cinnamon, roasted almonds and subtle oak. The spirit carries weight and warmth without becoming heavy, supported by a gentle, integrated spice character.
Â
Finish:
Long and smooth, finishing with lingering notes of caramelised nuts, dried fruit and warming oak spice.
- Food Pairing : Die Kaapse Brandewijn Kompanie XO Cape Brandy works beautifully after dinner alongside rich, savoury dishes or comforting desserts. It pairs particularly well with slow-cooked beef short ribs, roast duck or smoky braaied meats, where the spiritâs oak and spice complement caramelised flavours. For dessert, try it with sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate brownies or baked pecan tart, which echo the brandyâs notes of caramel, nuts and dried fruit. It is equally enjoyable served simply with good quality dark chocolate or a mature hard cheese at the end of a meal.
