Deetlefs Stonecross Chenin Blanc 2024

Deetlefs Wine Estate is situated in Rawsonville in the Breedekloof valley, where mountain-framed vineyards benefit from warm days, cool evening temperatures and alluvial soils that support healthy, even ripening. These conditions are particularly well suited to Chenin Blanc, helping the variety retain freshness while developing ripe fruit character. Deetlefs is one of South Africa’s oldest family-owned wine estates, with generations of farming knowledge shaping a practical, vineyard-first approach.

The Stonecross range focuses on accessible, fruit-driven wines with clear varietal identity. For the 2024 vintage, grapes from three vineyard blocks were selected and fermented separately in stainless steel at cool temperatures, then blended and matured on fine lees before bottling. This method builds aromatic intensity and texture while keeping the wine bright and clean.

Colour:
Pale straw with a bright youthful hue.

Nose:
Fresh aromas of Granny Smith apple, quince, melon, pineapple and nectarine rise first, followed by a light citrus lift.

Palate:
Crisp and medium-bodied, showing flavours of green apple, ripe nectarine and pineapple. The texture is smooth and easygoing, with lively acidity carrying the fruit through the palate.

Finish:
Clean and refreshing, finishing with soft minerality and a zesty lime note.
