Deetlefs is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in South Africa, situated in Rawsonville within the Breedekloof Valley. Surrounded by mountains and influenced by both warm days and cooling evening air, the region allows for full ripening while retaining balance in the fruit.
The De Hageveld range focuses on accessible, well-structured wines that reflect both varietal character and regional identity. In the cellar, the approach balances modern techniques with traditional sensibilities - careful extraction, thoughtful blending, and measured oak maturation to add depth without overwhelming the fruit. The result is a red blend that combines richness with drinkability, offering both structure and immediate appeal.
Colour:
Deep ruby with a dark core.
Nose:
Ripe blackberries and plum lead, followed by notes of spice, black pepper, and a touch of vanilla. Subtle hints of mocha and dried herbs add complexity.
Palate:
Medium- to full-bodied with a rounded, approachable texture. The fruit is generous - dark berries and plum - supported by soft tannins and balanced acidity. Oak influence adds gentle spice and a smooth, polished feel without dominating the wine.

Smooth and moderately long, with lingering dark fruit, spice, and a soft, dry finish.
