Brookdale Bradbourne White Blend 2024
Brookdale Estate, situated in the foothills of the Klein Drakenstein mountains in Paarl, has become one of the Cape’s most closely watched modern wine projects. Under the guidance of winemaker Kiara Scott and owner Tim Rudd, the estate focuses on unusual Mediterranean and Rhône varieties that are carefully matched to Paarl’s warm climate and decomposed granite soils.
The Bradbourne White Blend 2024 reflects this philosophy beautifully - a multi-varietal white blend built around freshness, texture, and layered complexity rather than overt richness. The vineyards are farmed with a strong emphasis on site expression, while the winemaking approach remains restrained and thoughtful, allowing each component variety to contribute something distinctive to the final wine.
Fermentation took place naturally using indigenous yeasts, with maturation in older French oak and amphora adding texture and subtle savoury detail without masking the fruit. The result is a white blend that feels contemporary yet rooted in Old World influence.
Colour:
Pale gold with bright straw highlights and a clear, luminous appearance.
Nose:
Complex and expressive, showing white peach, citrus peel, pear and yellow apple alongside floral notes, dried herbs, almond, and subtle spice.
Palate:
Textured and energetic, with stone fruit and citrus flavours supported by fresh acidity and a gentle saline edge. The blend carries impressive depth without feeling heavy, combining rounded fruit with savoury complexity and fine structural tension.
Finish:
Long and refined, with lingering citrus oil, herbs, and subtle mineral freshness on the finish.
- Food Pairing : The layered texture and vibrant acidity of the Brookdale Bradbourne White Blend 2024 make it particularly versatile with food. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, grilled line fish, creamy seafood pasta, or pork belly, where the wine’s freshness balances richer textures while its savoury edge complements roasted and herb-driven flavours. It also works exceptionally well with Mediterranean-style vegetable dishes, soft cheeses, and Cape Malay-inspired cuisine, where the blend’s aromatic complexity and bright finish keep the palate refreshed.
