Bellevue Wine Estate is one of Stellenbosch’s historic family-owned properties, with roots dating back to the 1700s. The estate is best known for its important role in South African wine history, including the development of Pinotage, but it has also built a reputation for expressive single-varietal wines that reflect the Bottelary Hills and surrounding Stellenbosch terroir.
The Bellevue Cinsaut 2022 comes from bush-vine vineyards planted between 1994 and 1996, where controlled yields and mature vines help deliver concentration without losing freshness. Cinsaut has long been part of the Cape’s wine story, and Bellevue interprets it in a modern style: fragrant, supple and food friendly. The wine was matured in French and American oak barrels after fermentation, adding subtle texture while allowing the bright fruit character to remain centre stage.
Colour:
Bright ruby red with a youthful crimson edge and clear brilliance.
Nose:
Perfumed aromas of raspberry, strawberry and plum lead the nose, followed by pomegranate and a gentle savoury spice note.
Palate:
Medium-bodied and silky, showing flavours of raspberry, sour cherry and ripe strawberry, with soft tannins and lively freshness. A subtle earthiness adds complexity without weighing the wine down.
Finish:
Fresh and persistent, finishing with red berries and a smooth, lightly savoury edge.
- Food Pairing : Bellevue Cinsaut 2022 is an excellent match for carpaccio, lightly seared tuna, roast chicken, charcuterie or flame-grilled boerewors.
