Bellevue Atticus 2024
Bellevue Wine Estate is situated in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, a region celebrated for producing structured, expressive red wines. Warm sunny days are tempered by cooling afternoon breezes, while decomposed granite and shale soils help concentrate flavour and preserve freshness. These conditions are particularly well suited to both Bordeaux and Cape heritage varieties.
With deep family roots and an important place in South African wine history, Bellevue is closely associated with Pinotage and thoughtful Stellenbosch reds. Atticus is the estate’s contemporary Cape blend, combining tradition with a more accessible, fruit-forward style. The 2024 vintage brings together Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot for richness, structure and regional character.
Colour:
Deep ruby red with a bright crimson edge and youthful intensity.
Nose:
Ripe black cherry, plum and cassis aromas lead first, followed by violet perfume, cedar spice and a subtle smoky note.
Palate:
Smooth and generous, with flavours of dark berries, blackcurrant and ripe plum supported by supple tannins. Pinotage adds juicy fruit depth, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure, while Petit Verdot contributes colour and grip. Fresh acidity keeps the palate balanced and lively.
Finish:
Medium-long and polished, finishing with dark fruit, soft spice and a savoury edge.
- Food Pairing : Bellevue Atticus 2024 pairs beautifully with beef burgers, braaied sirloin, roast lamb, barbecue chicken or tomato-based pasta dishes. Its ripe fruit and soft tannins make it versatile with grilled meats, while the fresh acidity helps balance richer or smoky flavours.
