Perdeberg VC Grenache Blanc 2025
Perdeberg Wines, situated between Paarl and Durbanville in the Western Cape, has built a reputation for producing wines that faithfully express both vineyard and variety. The Vineyard Collection showcases carefully selected vineyard blocks chosen for their unique terroir and ability to produce distinctive wines. The Grenache Blanc vineyards are dryland-farmed on decomposed granite, sandstone and Malmesbury shale soils, encouraging naturally concentrated fruit. After a short period of skin contact, most of the wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness, while a portion is fermented and matured on the lees in French oak barrels for six months. The result is a wine that combines bright fruit with subtle texture, remaining true to the variety while reflecting Perdeberg's elegant, modern winemaking style.
Colour: Pale straw with brilliant clarity and youthful brightness.
Nose: Aromas of white pear, peach and other stone fruits are complemented by grapefruit, gooseberry, green fig and delicate grassy notes, with a subtle hint of creaminess from partial barrel fermentation.
Palate: Bright and refreshing with flavours of ripe orchard fruit and citrus layered over a lightly textured palate. Crisp natural acidity provides focus, while the portion matured in French oak adds gentle richness without overshadowing the fruit.
Finish: Clean, persistent and refreshing, leaving lingering notes of citrus, stone fruit and a subtle mineral character.
- Food Pairing : Perdeberg VC Grenache Blanc 2025 is wonderfully versatile at the table. Pair it with grilled kingklip, pan-fried prawns, roast chicken with fresh herbs, creamy seafood pasta or a warm salad topped with semi-mature goat's cheese. Its lively acidity refreshes the palate alongside richer dishes, while the gentle texture from lees ageing and partial oak maturation complements creamy sauces and delicate roasted flavours without overwhelming them.
