Leopards Leap Culinaria Chenin Blanc 2025
Leopard's Leap Family Vineyards, situated in the Franschhoek Valley, has built a reputation for producing wines that celebrate the connection between food and wine. The Culinaria Collection pays tribute to classic European wine styles while expressing the distinctive character of South African vineyards. The 2025 Culinaria Chenin Blanc is crafted from old dryland bush vines in Paarl and Stellenbosch, where well-drained soils and naturally low yields produce concentrated, expressive fruit. The grapes are hand-harvested before fermentation in seasoned French oak barrels, followed by eight months on the lees. This careful approach adds texture and complexity while allowing Chenin Blanc's natural freshness and vibrant fruit to remain at the forefront.
Colour: Bright straw gold with youthful brilliance and a subtle green tint.
Nose: A layered bouquet of pineapple, litchi and yellow peach is complemented by apricot, ripe pear and delicate floral notes. Gentle hints of sweet spice and vanilla oak add further complexity.
Palate: Richly textured yet fresh, with flavours of peach, pear and citrus wrapped around creamy notes of vanilla and toasted almond. The wine is medium- to full-bodied with vibrant acidity that keeps the palate focused and balanced, while subtle oak provides depth without dominating the fruit.
Finish: Long, refined and fresh, with lingering stone fruit, citrus zest and elegant oak spice supported by bright natural acidity.
- Food Pairing : Leopard's Leap Culinaria Chenin Blanc 2025 is a wonderfully versatile food wine. Its generous fruit, creamy texture and vibrant acidity make it an excellent match for Cape Malay chicken curry, grilled line fish, prawns, creamy pasta dishes and roast chicken with herbs. It also works beautifully with salads dressed in tangy vinaigrettes or mayonnaise-based dressings, where the wine's freshness balances richness while its subtle oak complements savoury flavours.
