Allée Bleue Shiraz 2022
Nestled at the foot of the Franschhoek Mountains, Allée Bleue is one of the Cape's most picturesque wine estates, combining centuries of heritage with a contemporary approach to winemaking. The estate's vineyards benefit from well-drained soils, warm summer days and cool mountain breezes, allowing grapes to ripen slowly while retaining freshness and aromatic complexity. The Allée Bleue Shiraz 2022 is produced from a carefully selected vineyard on the estate. Following hand-sorting and a four-day cold soak, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel before maturing for 15 months in a combination of French and American oak, creating a wine that balances ripe fruit with subtle spice and refined structure.
Colour: Deep ruby red with an intense, vibrant core.
Nose: Fragrant aromas of ripe cherries and blackberries are layered with violets, cinnamon, dark chocolate and a touch of sweet oak spice.
Palate: Smooth and silky in texture, the palate delivers generous berry fruit supported by notes of black pepper, baking spice and well-integrated oak. Fine tannins provide structure without overpowering the fruit, while balanced acidity keeps the wine fresh and composed.
Finish: Long and elegant, leaving lingering dark berry flavours with gentle spice and a subtle savoury note.
- Food Pairing : The Allée Bleue Shiraz 2022 pairs beautifully with classic South African braai favourites such as grilled lamb chops, beef sirloin or ostrich fillet, where its smooth tannins complement the richness of the meat. It is equally enjoyable with slow-cooked oxtail, venison or mushroom-based dishes, while mature Cheddar or Gouda highlights the wine's savoury spice and ripe fruit. The freshness of the palate keeps richer dishes from feeling heavy, making it a versatile choice for relaxed lunches or hearty dinners.
