Nestled in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley, Allée Bleue Estate benefits from a unique meeting point of mountain slopes, warm summer days and cool evening breezes that help grapes ripen evenly while retaining freshness. The estate combines generations of farming heritage with a contemporary winemaking approach, focusing on expressing the fruit rather than overpowering it. For the Blue Owl Chardonnay 2024, grapes from mature Franschhoek vineyards were whole-bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel before spending four months on the lees. This gentle maturation adds texture and complexity while preserving the bright, unwooded style that makes this Chardonnay so approachable.
Colour: Pale straw with youthful green highlights and excellent clarity.
Nose: Fresh aromas of winter melon, ripe apricot and citrus lead the bouquet, with subtle floral notes and a gentle lees-derived creaminess adding interest.
Palate: Light to medium-bodied with a silky texture, this unwooded Chardonnay offers flavours of stone fruit, melon and lemon zest. Crisp natural acidity keeps the wine lively, while four months on the lees contributes a rounded mouthfeel and attractive fruit purity.
Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering citrus and delicate apricot notes that encourage another sip.
