The Zevenwacht Wine Estate sits on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, where a combination of elevated vineyards, decomposed granite soils and cooling False Bay sea breezes creates ideal conditions for producing expressive Sauvignon Blanc. With a history spanning more than 300 years, the estate combines a deep respect for heritage with a modern approach to winemaking. The fruit for the Zevenwacht Z Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2024 comes from south- and south-west-facing vineyards in the Polkadraai Hills, among the coolest sites on the farm. Fermentation takes place in a combination of French oak barrels and concrete eggs, followed by extended lees ageing. This approach adds texture and complexity while preserving the freshness and precision that define the wine. Colour: Bright pale straw with flashes of green, indicating both freshness and concentration. Nose: Expressive aromas of lime, gooseberry and nectarine lead the way, supported by subtle notes of fresh nettle, citrus zest and delicate oak spice. As the wine opens, hints of white peach and fynbos add further complexity. Palate: The palate is generous and textured, balancing ripe citrus and stone fruit flavours with vibrant natural acidity. The Semillon component contributes weight and depth, while fermentation in oak and concrete eggs adds a creamy mid-palate without overshadowing the fruit.
