Veuve Du Vernay Brut
Veuve du Vernay is a French sparkling wine designed around freshness, fruit and easy enjoyment rather than the complexity associated with Champagne. The wine draws on grapes sourced from established vineyard partners across France, with the blend bringing together Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Chardonnay. It is produced using the Charmat method, where the second fermentation takes place in tank, helping to preserve the wine's bright fruit character and lively bubbles. The wine is also aged on its lees to add a little extra roundness and texture. The result is an approachable French Brut sparkling wine that sits comfortably between crisp and gently rounded. Veuve du Vernay Brut is particularly suited to occasions where you want something refreshing and uncomplicated - whether served as an aperitif, alongside light food or as part of a celebration.
Colour: Pale yellow with a subtle green hue and a stream of fine, lively bubbles.
Nose: Fresh and delicate, with aromas of crisp apple, pear and white-fleshed fruit, accompanied by hints of apricot and peach. A subtle floral character adds lift, while gentle yeasty and baked notes bring a little extra complexity.
Palate: Light to medium-bodied and refreshing, with flavours of apple, pear and delicate citrus fruit. The mousse is fine and creamy, while the acidity keeps the wine lively. Its modest sweetness gives the fruit a rounded feel without losing its fresh, clean character.
Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering pear, apple and subtle citrus flavours. An easy-drinking finish that makes another glass rather tempting.
- Food Pairing : Veuve du Vernay Brut is at its best with lighter, fresh flavours. Serve it as an aperitif alongside oysters, sushi or smoked salmon, or pair it with lightly dressed salads, grilled prawns, roast chicken or soft cheeses. Its lively acidity and bubbles provide freshness against richer foods, while the gentle fruitiness works particularly well with seafood and lightly seasoned dishes. It can also happily accompany fruit-based desserts, where its modest sweetness complements fresh fruit.
