Compass Box, founded by John Glaser in 2000, is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional Scotch whisky blending. Rather than distilling its own spirit, the house sources high-quality single malts from across Scotland - particularly the Highlands and Speyside - and crafts them into distinctive, small-batch blends.

The Spice Tree is one of Compass Boxâs most recognised expressions, originally launched in 2005. Its defining feature is the use of custom-made hybrid casks - American oak bodies with heavily toasted French oak heads - designed to enhance spice character without overwhelming the whiskyâs natural fruit and malt profile. This approach gives the whisky a layered, contemporary style that still respects classic Scotch structure, balancing innovation with drinkability.
