Glendalough was founded in 2011, making it one of Ireland's first craft distilleries. The Glendalough Calvados XO Single Cask Whiskey is a single grain Irish whiskey finished in XO Calvados casks. Part of the Glendalough distillery's Single Cask series, it is a limited edition bottling that offers a combination of Irish whiskey tradition and the fruity complexity of French apple brandy. Notes of vanilla, toffee, stewed apple, and pear on the palate, with a floral and orchard fruit aroma and a spicy, fruity finish. The whiskey is aged first in bourbon casks before being finished in French oak casks that once held Calvados XO apple brandy, which contributes the rich fruity and spiced notes.
