PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

In 1995 the McNaught family purchased an old fruit farm which they replanted to vines and built a small cellar in which to produce the first wines under the Stony Brook label. In 2011, the owners were joined by their son, Craig McNaught, who took over the reigns as winemaker. Their winemaking philosophy is firmly rooted in the old-world, but whilst their approach to winemaking is more traditional, their outlook on planting and assemblage is an exploratory one, allowing a unique expression of the soils and climate of the remarkable Franschhoek site. The Stony Brook SMV 2019 offers fresh spice and white pepper on the nose, with intense dark berry fruit. The palate shows dense, savoury flavours contrasted with bright acidity before the robust finish. There are multiple layers of texture in this red wine blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier, with lovely balance between the richness, chunky tannins and lively freshness.
