De Toren proprietors Emil and Sonette den Dulk left Johannesburg in 1991 to establish their vineyards in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch. The boutique farm has quickly risen in the ranks of South Africa’s winemaking elite. The De Toren The Black Lion Shiraz 2022 is a truly aromatic and robust red wine with bolder tannins, and phenomenal dark fruit expression. The granite-rich soils from the Swartland region produce an aromatic intensity of perfumed floral violets and delectably dark fruits. Unified with the classic ironstone characteristics of the Stellenbosch region and earthy, tobacco-leaf flavours, the wine culminates into a robust form with chalky tannins and an elegant, balanced structure.
