The best wine advice I ever received was from a Norwegian—surprisingly, as his native country is not really known for its appreciation of good wine.
He told me to buy the best wines I could afford. To drink the wines thoughtfully, slowly, attentively. And to continue doing this for as long as I could afford to do so. At the end of the period, he said, I would suddenly find I had become a connoisseur.
But how do you try new wines without spending a fortune on lots of ordinary wines? You get a panel of expert wine judges to blind taste and select the very best for you.
